Spring Is In The Air

After all the celebrations – Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day – I think most of us would like to go back to our daily routines and try to be outdoors as much as possible before the weather starts to be very hot and humid.

Spring feels like a new start of everything. Nature wakes up and gives us a warm welcome with blossoming flowers, migrating birds and an urge for us to discover something new.

Sometimes we look forward for something to end, like a school year, but it can also be a beginning to look forward to. I guess it depends on which grade you are in, whether you are starting pre-kindergarten or you're a senior soon to graduate. On page 10, Taipei American School tell us more about themselves.

Wherever we are in life, all of us can enjoy the beauty of flowers. Especially during the month of March, Yang Ming Shan, just north of Taipei City and easily accessible with public transportation, is showing herself from the most beautiful side. For more information, please see page 30. I would like to remind you about the upcoming Taipei International Flora Exposition starting in November and running until April 2011.

Nature is incredibly impressive and to experience a scene of migrating birds is fascinating. The Hawk - Watching event takes place yearly in Changhua City, a highly recommended happening! Please see page 42.

Some of us might be too busy for these small excursions and perhaps just want to have a drink or dinner at a nice place. For Taipei, check out our list on page 22 and 24.

With the evening free, we can fill it for you! Taiwan this Month is giving monthly suggestions for concerts, dance performances and other cultural events. Browse through the magazine to find out where the fun things closest to you are happening.

Enjoy the spring in Taiwan,
