Taipei's Best Restaurant

With no doubt most of the time the best restaurants in Taipei are within the five star hotels. Sometimes though, it's nice to have dinner at a small cozy restaurant in your neighborhood. We have listed a few here.

Easy House

Set and à la carte menu available in English and Chinese. Credit cards accepted, plus 10% service charge.This fine sophisticated vegetarian cuisine, is a must dine for all vegetarians! It has an elaborate vegetarian menu with Hot pots, rice/noodle dishes, vegetable curries, salads, fresh energy drinks & desserts. The food is non oily with some very interesting combinations and unique taste. The thin noodles made Italian style, the mushroompurple rice and the Japanese salad are just a few of the many appetizing choices. Each table has a large carafe of black tea to consume throughout the meal. A meal for 2 NT$ 1000- 1500.

This Shanghai restaurant is located in the middle of the expat-friendly Tienmou with friendly waiters speaking English. How easy can it get? Even the menu is in English, if you ask for it. Dumpling: NT$ 220 for 10 pcs or NT$ 160 for 6 pcs. The bok choy, or Chinese cabbage with Chinese ham was a bit too salty.

Fusion is the word! This small restaurant in the middle of a prestige area is a pleasant surprise. The ambience is modern, lot of glass, wooden tables, aluminum chairs and at the same time cozy. The menu is handwritten in English and Chinese and changes often, according to the owners.

The presentation of the food - modern Chinese tapas - is unique and creative. Excellent for an after theater treat! Prices: Wine: NT$ 250/glas

Capricciosa is an Italian restaurant with a complete menu including appetizers, salads, soups, pastas, pizzas, and delicious desserts. Under each course of the meal Capricciosa also doesn't fail to provide a large variety of dishes for people different tastes. One can find escargots to croquettes in just the appetizer course. Capricciosa furthermore provides the calzone, a dish which is uncommon in Taiwan and even have different fillings for these delicious and unique pizzas. The large variety of different dishes found available at Capricciosa allows anyone to leave with a 100% satisfied stomach.

The only Swedish restaurant in town. This small restaurant has a small nice outside patio where you can have your drink or your full meal. You can either go for a set menu or ask the chef Ola to treat you with his special Swedish tapas. Whatever you will order you will inevitably leave with a full stomach, however a must at the end of every meal his Ola's infamous Apple cake. Open just for dinner, NT$ 800 and up.
