Time to play – time for reflection

During the month of April, we have three major "holidays" to celebrate: Women and Children's Day on April 4 and Tomb Sweeping Day on Monday, April 5, a non-working holiday in Taiwan. Around the world, people are going to celebrate Easter, the greatest feast-day in the Christian calendar which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ and falls on Sunday, April 4 this year.

To start the month off we have April Fool's Day on Thursday, April 1, when it's legitimate to make practical jokes on families and friends.

The Women and Children's Day might be focused more on the children, and many families are making this a day of fun and play. Weather permitting, many families will take their children for an outing to a park or along a beach for some kite flying, picnic or other games. The following day, Monday, April 5 is the Tomb Sweeping day, when families around Taiwan make the yearly pilgrimages to the tombs of their ancestors. This long weekend might face some traffic problems in Taiwan.

NOVOTEL Taipei Taoyuan International Airport, a complete resort close to the airport, has 360 fully equipped rooms and suites offering views across the airport runways, multi-cuisine dining, signature Chinese food, bars, and a spa among other amenities. See page 10.

This month, we have focused on children: dining – page 22, shopping – page 32 and places – page 30. If you feel this might not be what you are looking for, please go to our web page: www.taiwanthismonth.com for more information.

Rest assured that the section on Cocktail Bars for Taipei – page 24 – is only for adults as well as Taiwan Beer – pages 1 and 2.

But if you have a sweet tooth – Ginjer might be a place for you to explore yummy cupcakes, either on the spot together with a nice cup of coffee or tea or to take out. Page 52.

Happy Easter
