We at Taiwan this Month hope you have had a nice holiday wherever you have been, and now ready for new challenges during 2010.
Normally the weather in Taiwan during January and February is a bit damp and chilly. Sometimes we even have snow in Yang Ming Shan, just north of Taipei, but it will not last for long. With the different weather, life around the city is also changing. The holiday season brings family and friends from all over the world and makes Taiwan more cosmopolitan. The visitors who might be able to stay for a bit longer are often the students, who are also happy to explore the unknown.
For this January issue we have a restaurant and bar section for Taipei to cater to students, who might be on a budget, but still want to have nice food and who of course want to know where the best bars are! Even if you are not a student you might want to check out the information on page 22.
The shopping is always of interest, and once again we have some places to look out for, advised by young students, that said for Taipei. This is also good for other people who might need or want to bring back some presents from Taiwan.
On page 60, a "Taiwan Millennium" bug is discussed. The question is whether Taiwan with its own way of counting the years, will be facing problems due to the double-digit-designed computer programs. I wonder if this issue has already been addressed by local IT-program designers?
Talking about Taiwan and rest of the world, do you know Taiwan this Month is delivered to more than 26 countries? If you like to know more about this or the possibility to advertise with us, please send us an email at: info@taiwanthismonth.com
