To celebrate Christmas of 2009, a 13,5 meter tall silver Christmas tree will be raised by the Taichung City Government in the city hall square, sending out blessing and prayers for each and everyone.

There will be a series of celebrations starting on Friday, December 4 at 17:00 in the city hall square. The "Space shuttle-Christmas tree" will be free for everyone from December 4 to December 27 between 19:00 - 21:00. A wonderful gingerbread house can be enjoyed inside the city hall, spreading Christmas spirit at all time.

The New Year's Eve Party 2009 will be held on Thursday, December 31, at 21:00 in National Taiwan College of Physical Education Stadium. The Government has invited many pop-idols who are popular with young people. Also, there will be a firework show to celebrate the New Year's coming. The party will end at 00:30, and the fantastic performance will bring a sparkling New Year's Eve to Taichung.

Apart from the main stage, there will be a big screen on Shuangshi Road outside the Stadium, for those who can't get into the Stadium to enjoy the show. On cable TV, GTV 28 and TBC Channel 8, the show will be broadcast live.

Year 2010 is the Chinese Tiger year. Taichung Lantern Festival will use the Disney Cartoon figure "Tigger" to be the lantern in cooperation with Interaction Multimedia Technology. The festival will be held in Wenxin Forest Park. Look out for this fantastic event taking place in Taichung City.
