Taipei American School
Celebrating 60 Years of Educational Excellence

Taipei American School is known for rigorous academics, dynamic integration of technology, extensive cocurricular activities, rich history of community service in Taiwan and Asia, and signature fine arts programs. TAS offers an exemplary American-based education with a global perspective that prepares all students academically and ethically for success at university and in life in a rapidly changing world.

Founded in 1949 and accredited by WASC, TAS is an independent college-preparatory day school that enrolls 2,200 students from more than 30 countries. TAS graduates continue their education at their best-fit colleges and universities, primarily in the U.S., but also in Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia, Taiwan, and other Asian nations.

TAS's curriculum is aligned with the very best standards and benchmarks from the U.S. The lower school (Pre-K to grade 5) program is dynamic and balanced, with particular emphasis on developing literacy skills. The middle school (grades 6-8) program is innovative and interdisciplinary. The upper school (grades 9-12) offers a full range of college-prep courses, including multiple Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, leading to a U.S. high school diploma or an IB diploma.

TAS's mission is to inspire each student to be a confident, creative, caring, and moral individual; our programs encourage a love of learning, academic excellence, a balanced life, and service to others. All divisions have service projects, environmental awareness activities, and character education.

Construction and renovations at our Tien Mu campus will provide more instructional space by the spring of 2012, including a new upper school classroom building featuring a Science and Technology Center, a new athletic facility, and expansion of the cafeteria and fine arts areas.

At TAS, children benefit from the unique culture of Taiwan while experiencing the best American education offers. Please visit www.tas.edu.tw for further information.
