American Club
Welcome Home!

By Brian Asmus

The American Club in China (ACC) delivers the best that Taipei has to offer to the international community - camaraderie, sports, entertainment, fine dining and relaxation - all together in one unique place. The private member club is a luxurious haven where you can make global connections and lifelong friends in a relaxed and sociable setting.

The Club, which was founded in 1968, has been extensively redesigned. Today, the Club offers five dining areas, three full-sized tennis courts, one racquet ball court and two squash courts. It also has one of the best fitness centers in Asia, a heated 25-meter swimming pool and a children's wading pool. In addition, its services include a hair and beauty salon, and a library complete with contemporary literature and the latest DVDs.

When it comes to dining, ooh la la! The Napa Grille presents the highest level of fine cuisine and discreet service. This restaurant concentrates on freshness and quality. The latest menu is innovative and modern, featuring a delectable blend of Californian and Italian cuisine with Asian accents. There is also a great selection of wines.

For casual al fresco fun, head to Sigis for an array of delicious Mediterranean dishes and other Western cuisine. Indulge in large, crispy homemade pizzas, fresh homemade pasta cooked to order, salads, tapas, bruschettas, antipasto platters, grilled meat, fish and seafood platters.

Multilingual, professional staff, including expatriates who are certified instructors or highly skilled in their disciplines, are recognized as being the best in Taipei. The Club's members - 45 nationalities, including many from Taiwan - are dynamic, positive and vibrant leaders in their professional fields.

Make memories that last a lifetime by coming to an international oasis where families can have fun, local and expat businessmen can make contacts, foreign spouses can adjust to life in Taiwan and singles can enjoy meeting in a sophisticated atmosphere. An ACC membership is about making friends; it is about spending time in a place where people know your name; it is not only an experience but also a journey.
