Visitors in Taiwan

Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall

Wouter, Michaël, Jens and Geoff are from Belgium and are around the age of 17 and 18. They are in Taiwan for the International Geography Olympiad held in Taipei, however, after their competition ended, the rest of their two-week trip is spent sightseeing, the first week in Taipei and the next was spent touring around the rest of Taiwan.

In Taipei, places that impressed the group the most were the Taipei 101 and the National Palace Museum. Jens and Geoff are eager to share their experiences down in Southern Taiwan as well, and claimed that they were very impressed by the beauty of the Taroko National Park and the city of Tainan, especially the ancient temples.

In terms of food, the boys agree that most restaurants are good, but the seafood meals on the eastern shores of Taiwan were definitely the best. Wouter especially recommends the fresh squids available on the ports, which he finds to be even better than meat, which they agree to be too sweet.

Michaël found Taiwan’s advance technology and green environment to be above his expectations, and he compliments on the convenience of the Taipei Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system. Next time, he wants take a trip around Asia and also visit Taiwan again. Jens and Geoff like Taiwan very much because it is clean and safe, and would also like to return in the future. Wouter feels that Taiwan is a little too far to reach, but still would love to come back again if there is a chance to.
