Louise Byström Editor-in-Chief

Taiwan this Month

Louise Byström is the editor-in-chief for the magazine Taiwan this Month. She has been working with different magazines ever since she came to Taiwan in 2001.

Louise Byström has a BA in law and studied marketing and accounting in Sweden, from where she hails. As the wife of a businessman and a diplomat, she has been living in South East Asia for 25 years and the last nine in Taiwan. In her position, she has organized and hosted many events with various dignitaries from the private business sector as well as from the government, particularly so during Sweden's Presidency of the European Union in the latter part of 2009.

Louise lives a very active life and has a special interest in meeting new people. She is an active member of many different associations and clubs in Taiwan. Among these are "Welcome to Taipei International Club" , where most of the members are spouses of Ambassadors and Representative Officers to Taiwan, or spouses of Taiwanese high officials. She holds a co-chairperson position in one of their sub-committees. "Taipei International Women’s Club" is a charitable organization where Mrs. Bystrom has been especially busy with fundraising. "American Club in China" is where she spends most weekends working out in the fitness center, when not traveling to find interesting new places for her magazine. "Rotary Club of Taipei" is another important club in the community, there she chairs the spouse sub-committee. With a mix of international and local members, she has to arrange interesting activities for all the spouses of the club monthly. The latest addition to her actively contributing memberships is "SKÅL International Taipei", an executive club for key people in the travel industry.

During her stay in Taiwan, she has been interviewed a number of times by media such as ICRT, Radio Taiwan International, Yangming Shan Cable TV, China Post and Taipei Times. Not to mention all the club magazines and newsletters that have covered the initiatives and activities she has undertaken in her efforts to give back to the community.
